The silent killer plaguing almost every place in the world is apathy. Most of my Christian friends couldn’t care less about praying at school or even talking about what it means to be a Christian. These are believers who HAVE NO IDEA what God wants to do! This used to be me until I went on the Overseas Transformation Mission Trip with Harvest Evangelism.
While I have been raised a Christian, my walk with God did not really begin until last year. This trip taught me so much about God’s heart for me and for my city and cemented a realization that God will use anyone submitted to Him. To sum up the way I NOW view things, I see that I can be a vessel to fill my school, family, church, and tennis practices with God’s presence.
One experience from this trip in particular sticks out in my mind. One day, we went to a hospital to pray for those who were sick. There was a woman whose baby could not breathe properly. He was not able to yawn or cry. We began to pray over them and suddenly her baby started to cry. God healed the baby as we were praying for him. THIS TAUGHT ME THAT THE EXTRAORDINARY SHOULD BE ORDINARY!
I also gained a vision to bring God’s presence into daily life at my school. Life takes on so much more meaning when you wake up knowing God has divine encounters planned for you that will take His power into people’s lives.
Basically, I want to be THE LIGHT THAT DOESN’T GO OFF for people, so that His love and grace can shine on them!
On a scale of 1-10, I would say that the trip was a 10! On this trip you will catch a crazy vision of God changing your city. You will come back on fire with His heart and empowered with the right tools to really make a difference. This trip is much more than a mission’s trip…it’s a transformation experience!
